wellsguy77 Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I am not getting any warnings or service trouble codes related to the A/C. As a matter of fact the A/C was working just fine when I went to work in the morn, but when I went out for lunch in about 95 degree weather and turned the A/C on air came out but the compressor did not engage. It sounds like it wants to spin but it is not. I hope with this extra information I can get some more replies or suggestions for this. The compressor will not engage when I turn my A/C on, I have disconnected and reconnected the neg battery terminal, but that didn't work, and the CRT screen is not saying I am low on freon, so does anybody know of something else it may be, before I tell my mechanic I need a new compressor. Plus I read about an alternate use for R12, I think it's called Freeze 12, how would I find out if that is ava in my area?
Barney Eaton Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I had a similar situation and in my case it was the ECM not giving the system ground.Go to www.reatta.net and look at the 1990 service manual. There is a step by step check. You verify that the relay is working, etc and the last possible problem was the ECM for me.
wellsguy77 Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 I have a service manual for the car would the directions be in there too, or just the 90 manual? What section do I look under is it the A/C section or electrical?
