rhb1999 Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I saw this engine in a dumpster filled with transmissions and other aluminum engines. I was wondering what this engine is. The distributor has points and a 4-barrel intake. Is this a Buick from the early 60's or is this a British Rover engine? 904 571 7810 rhb1999@hotmail.com
Guest COMPACTBC Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Don't think it is a Buick 215, the valve cover is not Buick, but it may be a Olds F85 215 engine or even a Rover.
Dave@Moon Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 It isn't a Rover valve cover either. Also the oil filter on the Rover sticks out at an acute angle (at least on the versions I'm familiar with), not roughly straight down like this one. I did find the vital statistics of the Rover V8, which should be very close to the Buick and Olds versions:Width = 26' Length = 28' Height = 27' Weight = 320 lbs I hope this helps.
Guest John Chapman Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Ah, come on Serb... It's Dave@Moon!You know it can't possibly be wrong, as it is meticulously researched and triple-depth documented. JMC
