Guest Reattach_1 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I was wondering what kind of tranny treats are used here. I was cleaning out the gargage and I've found a bottle of Prolong trans treat and might put it in a trans fluid change. Is this good or bad or? I haven't had any transmission problems. Just was wondering about treatments and your opinions. Thanks.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 prolong=very bad. They were sued by the US government for false advertising. There are no good "treatments" for a good transmission, besides a new filter, proper flush, and good ATF, preferably Mobil 1 ATF
Guest Reattach_1 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I'll look into Mobile 1 ATF. By the way, your baby looks sweet. Nice RIMS. I wish that I could find some old or new deep dish slot rims for mind. Thanks.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 If you haven't done a flush before, here...uff in the pan.
Guest Reattach_1 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I don't like power flushing. I'm afraid of breaking the seal in the tranny. I had one done on my olds cutlass years ago and had to have it rebuilt shorty after.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 It isn't quite power flushing, at least no machine is used here. Simply using the transmission's own pump to get its old fluid out of itself.
Guest Reattach_1 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 In your posting, what size and kind of drain plug would you get. Where would you put it and how deep would the plug be? I remember years ago of another member doing this to theirs.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I guess auto parts stores sell an add-a-plug, which I guess I would describe as a short, hollow bolt, with two nuts to hold it in the hole in the pan you drilled, and with threads inside of that, with a bolt. I'd add it somewhere in the bottom of the drain pan.
