Guest imported_PackardV8 Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Were all REAR fender mount anntenea's POWER anntenna or were they also available in manual???
Guest Randy Berger Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Brian, if you remove the yellow cap on the "unused" antenna, you can plug an antenna lead into it and it works fine. My original radio works off one antenna and my hidden AM/FM radio works off the other. I bought a spare 17 foot lead from Packard Farm years ago for $5.00.
Guest imported_Speedster Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Ah, The 'ol 'Hidden FM Trick'!
Guest Randy Berger Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Brian, The AM/FM radio has a tape player. I made a lot of my own tapes and installed that radio in anticipation of listening to them. But since I travel alone most of the time, I now listen to the various ticks, groans and squeaks that issue forth from the 400. I really enjoy oldies and would probably listen if I still had my navigator. I think you are correct about Pioneer making all the rear-mounted antennas. It's a shame that Antenna Masters disappeared because he made all the tooling for the masts, plastic contoured mounting base, dome nuts and rubber grommets for those antennas.
GuyFawkes Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I use an MP3/CD player in my antique, and it sounds great. You can put over 100 songs on one disc, you'll never listen to them all on a trip!
brainfrz Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Ipod can be directly connected to an Amplifier input and then pumped through added speakers. this is one of the best ways to add music and the Ipod disconnects and comes with you so no stereo to steal. Look through their wire options. They supply a connector that has the Ipod connection on one end and dual L/R outputs on the other. i use this setup for my home stereo and it works awesome. A small box with an amp and a set of concealed speakers could easily be made by any local stereo shop. Thats what my Packs getting.
