R W Burgess Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 The members of the Northern Neck Region here in Eastern Virginia are considering putting on a Divisional Tour sometime in 2007 as that is the next available AACA slot. I was hoping that we could go with the earlier antique vehicles this time as we've already put on a Sentimental Tour some years ago. My question is, are there a lot of early, 1925 and back, vehicle owners available to tour in Virginia? Any forum members interested? I'd be interested in your related experiences with past Divisional Tours concerning early cars. I already know one advantage! I can leave my metric tools home for that week! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />Wayne
24T42 Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Wayne,Yes and Yes. I would be interested in touring in Virginia and I am sure that quite a few of the Brass-Nickel members would be interested. We are, after all, a touring Region. One thought - you might want to consider uping the year a little to 1931. That way you would pick up the Model As. I think you will find that will greatly increase the number of participants and still be in keeping with the older cars. The Brass-Nickel hosted the Vintage Tour in 1999. We had about 36 tourists. If the cut off was 1931 instead of 1927, we would have had a greater attendance. If you do not want to go that high go at least to 1927 so that way you would pick up the Model Ts.Judy
R W Burgess Posted August 18, 2006 Author Posted August 18, 2006 Thanks Judy. I'll keep that in mind. I got an e-mail from a director about this. Seems there's nothing open for 2007 or 2008, I think. Haven't had time today to persue this. Our region doesn't really need to make alot of money at this, and personally, I'd rather see oler, early cars than Model A's. We haven't crossed that bridge yet. I'll let everyone know when that happens. Thanks,Wayne
Paul Dobbin Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Wayne,You mentioned all the tour slots for 2007 & 2008 were full. Can you share the list of dates and locations for those of us that plan way ahead to take in additional vaction exploring in conjunction with the tour?If you can share it, I'd appreciate it. Then I'd know which car to be working on way ahead of time.Paul
24T42 Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Last month someone asked about the 2007 calendar. Check out this post - July 24th post Hope this helps!
R W Burgess Posted August 19, 2006 Author Posted August 19, 2006 My understanding Paul is that the first Vintage Tour open is the year 2009. The Eastern Divisional Tours are taken up to 2012. A lot of really active regions to be able to book this many tours this far in advance.Wayne
