padgett Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 OK for over a year now I have been getting an occasional ABS indication. Happens when making a sharp turn or going over a speed bump or gutter at low speeds. Can reset immediately by cycling power.Always the same incation: codes 36 and 76 bot of which are RF WSS (right front wheels speed sensor). I am assuming that to Teves the Right Front is on the passenger side since Fig 2-21 in the GM Diagnostics manual says so.OK so far I have cleaned the connectors, replaced the sensor twice and the computer once. Have adjusted the sensor to a tight .020" and loose. This would seem to just leave the body wiring harness.I do not have a breakout box but have measured the sensors at the EBCM connector - all are 1100 ohms +/- 50 ohms.Am about to make a breakout connector to check the voltage but am wondering if anyone has seen this problem before or if anyone knows of a stress point in the wiring harness particularly in a turn or when going over a sharp bump.
Shelby Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 I had a similiar problem. The anti-lock sending ring(the thingy with grooves in it) was full of dirt and grease. After I cleaned it I discovered it was kind of loose. The ring was out of balance and it would hit the sensor. I replaced the wheel bearing and the half-shaft to solve th problem.
padgett Posted August 13, 2006 Author Posted August 13, 2006 Have cleaned the ring and it does not seem loose or damaged. Just looked at the bottom of the removed sensor and no signe of contact. How many miles were on your car when it happened ?
