Articles from our Members -- the August "Bugle"

I want to acknowledge the great articles by forum members Joe Tabitz ("The Old Guy") and Tom Liddy ("Tom") in the August issue of the Bugle. It's great to read your stories, guys, and learn more about your personal Buick-related histories.

I also enjoyed the Joe Mantegna story, and was particularly excited to see Jim Jaeger's article about Chuck Bidwell's 1932 Murphy-bodied Buick town car. When I first read about this car in the reports from the 2003 Pebble Beach Concours, I had set aside the photos in the hopes that someday we'd learn additional information. Part One of the Bugle story is excellent, and I'm looking forward to the second installment.

Lawrence Gustin's new book -- "David Buick's Marvelous Motor Car" -- is advertised on page 28, and this will no doubt rank at the top of my Christmas wish list this year. Has anyone read it yet?

Just finished it last night or the night before...my wife purchased it at the Sloan display at Rochester...I didn't get started on it until after we got home. Unfortunately, I missed a couple of opportunities to have Larry sign it...oh well.

It is a very easy read with a lot of information I didn't know before. The unfortunate part about books like this is that I need to put it away for a few years before I read it again.

Based on your review, I'll be looking forward to receiving my Bugle (not that I don't normally, but knowing it is on the way increases the anticipation).

That's the finest Bugle in a long time. I have not even finished it but it's very readable front to back.

I agree with all the posts on the August issue. Pete continues to do a great job and somehow I never knew that Joe had a lead foot.

It is also interesting that this is the "modified" issue and so far no negetive comments. Pete was pretty sly putting the "Seabiscuit" car in the modified issue.
