models which don't mention "Buick"

I saw a Riviera which was from circa early 70's and the badge said "Riviera" and under that it said "by Buick". I was wondering about the thinking behind this. Was it at a time when the name Buick may have been tarnished and they didn't want to mention it too heavily? I also wonder if you know of any other models like this, or any which Buick isn't mentioned at all?

Oldsmobile went one step further when it came out with the Aurora. I don't think there is any badging on that car that says "Oldsmobile". Only on the end of the trunk lid does it even say "Aurora". When introduced, the car was a pretty radical departure from the standard stuff Olds offered. As I heard it at the time, they figured the Aurora would do better on its own reputation than if it were promoted as an Olds. Alas, both are now history.
