Bill Stoneberg Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Cleaning out the garage, all the stuff was piled in and on top of the car... Most of this stuff was in the car... I am glad I didn't have to take it.Coming out of the garage, the poor wrecker driver didn't know what he was in forFinally, sun after 30 years. I am driving, the owners son is in front. Finally home and next to my wagonThe front seat ( I am embaressed by the back seat, its filthy)The obligitory motor shot (don't we all know what Nailheads look like ?)
Guest imported_MrEarl Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Great find Bill, and with AC evon!!! Congrats
NTX5467 Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Looks like a "fine project" you've got there, Bill. All pretty much intact and unmolested, right down to the underhood-mounted horns. Wanda can probably give you some of her tips on bringing those older interiors "back to life". I know it'll be really good when you get it all cleaned and revived!Enjoy!NTX5467
Bill Stoneberg Posted August 8, 2006 Author Posted August 8, 2006 Whats with those horns anyway ? I was surprised to find them when I opened the hood. I knew they were original but why ???? Inqusitive minds needs to know.
Guest my3buicks Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 desireable trumpet horns Bill, great option!!!!
Guest BJM Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Bill,What a barn, er, garage find. Great original color and fully trimmed. Dare we ask what you paid?
Pete Phillips Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Deluxe interior, tilt steering wheel, factory A/C, cruise control, tri-shield floor mats, the optional 3-note horns; car is loaded. Do you know if the engine is stuck or does it turn over? I brought a '63 Riviera back to life a couple of years ago, after it sat in a damp garage for nearly 30 years, and a couple of it's cylinders were stuck--had to be unstuck, heads removed, etc. Looks like there might not be too many miles on this one, judging from the driver's upholstery.Nice find!Pete Phillips, BCA #7338

Both the buyer and the seller were happy.Pete, I have not tried to turn the car over yet, I am still working at getting on rusted spark plug out. I am filling the cylinders with trans fluid to loosen everything up and will do the same on the valve train this weekend.
Guest JDHolmes Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Congrats on the find Bill. I've been looking for a 63-65 Rivi for a couple of years but just haven't found one that is the right price/condition combination. The horns are remarkable. Both of my 70's have the underhood horns too. My wife thought it was a rigged up job when she saw them.I'm envious! But I hope she turns out to be a winner for you.JD
imported_buick5563 Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Hey Bill,I think I know of a supplier of green shag carpet up here in Austin if you want to have matching floormats. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />Sweet ride.Mike
NTX5467 Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 "Green shag carpeting" in Austin???? How'd YOU ever find that, Mike? "Inquiring minds need to know" . . .Enjoy!NTX5467
JohnD1956 Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Bill, is it a 63? Did the 63's have 140 MPH speedometers?I am envious, a texas car to boot. Good luck with it. JD
Bill Stoneberg Posted August 9, 2006 Author Posted August 9, 2006 Its a 64 but it has a 140 mph speedometer. Yes, its a car that was raised in and lived all its life in Texas. Some rust mainly surface. Just one really bad spot and the bumpers need redoing.
JohnD1956 Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Thanks. I wish all the Rivs had 140 MPH speedo's. Considering what they were, they should have had this in all of the years and models.JD
