96roadmaster Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 I'm desperately looking for a 1958 Buick rear speaker grill. That's the original speaker grill that was on the rear deck on the cars that had the optional rear speaker. It's a small part, but I just can't find it anywhere.Does anyone have any leads? I'm also willing to offer a finder's fee for a clean one, if the transaction goes through. Please help!
Pontiac59 Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 My parts car has a rear speaker with a clean grille. I do not know if it's factory, as it has an added switch under the dash that is definately not factory, as a fader type control. Have a photo of what it should look like?
96roadmaster Posted August 9, 2006 Author Posted August 9, 2006 I do have a picture on my computer at home. I will dig it up tonight and will post it here. Thanks!
96roadmaster Posted August 10, 2006 Author Posted August 10, 2006 Whew! I sorted through a few thousand pictures on my computer just to find this one... Here it is! Pontiac59, please let me know if it matches yours.
Pontiac59 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I got a photo of a '59 Electra flat-top ??The one I have is stamped in a piece of perforated metal with round holes; it fits the mount holes on the deck exactly. Speaker is in good shape, too -
96roadmaster Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 Were you able to see the picture that I posted? It was coming up when I posted it, but for some reason I only see it's web address. Here is a direct link you can click on, please let me know if it looks identical to your eye.http://img456.imageshack.us/my.php?image=349pz.jpgHere are a couple pictures of the '59 <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />http://www.regionofdoomforum.com/Upload/...ark%2006013.jpghttp://www.regionofdoomforum.com/Upload/...k%202006085.jpghttp://www.regionofdoomforum.com/Upload/...k%202006005.jpg
Guest sixpack2639 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 This link http://img456.imageshack.us/my.php?image=349pz.jpg is a pic of your 59 Flat top.
96roadmaster Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 Yup, that's when the car had JUST arrived. I washed it and took that picture within 2 hours of its arrival.
Pontiac59 Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Okay, but I thought it was supposed to be a photo of the speaker grille?I looked at the speaker again today; it has a chrome top plate with a couple bars across and there is an insert under that is perforated metal. It's in decent shape, but not perfect.I pulled the dash padding on the car today, too, the forward section is nice, the actual padded section has a couple of cracks in the grooves on it but would be fine on a driver or a car you weren't trying to win trophies with.
96roadmaster Posted August 16, 2006 Author Posted August 16, 2006 Pontiac59, I'm new to Imageshack, and apologize for the error. Here is the correct picture of the speaker grill...http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/6263/58speakergrillmk0.jpgI just sent you a PM, with my phone number. Please give me a call at your earliest convenience.Thank you,Roupin
Pontiac59 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Hmm. One of ours isn't factory - mine is fancier than that, it has a flat plate of similar mesh but over it is a chrome bezel or ring with a couple of wide bars across it. I'll take a photo of it and post it. One thing worth noting, this is a standard size speaker so a lot of different parts may fit the hole - oddly, the closest match to this that I have had was in a '57 Plymouth. I can't remember if I kept that one or not. I'll hold off on the call until I can show you what it looks like and go from there.
96roadmaster Posted August 16, 2006 Author Posted August 16, 2006 Thanks for the reply. I'm curious to see a picture of the part you have. I'm looking for the exact part, or the closest match.I know the '56 Belairs are very similar, but I'm interested nevertheless.Hold on to my number just in case!
Pontiac59 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Hopefully I remember to take a pic of this tomorrow, I have to pull some other parts off the car for a guy -
