Hershey 2006 Field Changes

I heard from a friend that the show and car corral will be moved from the Giant Center parking area to a nearby golf course?

If this is true does anyone know why the change? It was so convenient the way things were. Thank you.

The BLUE, WHITE and YELLOW flea market field vendors are being relocated to the Giant parking lot, that is one reason.

The car corral spaces are still being reviewed as there have been some problems with space due to the inability to cut down a large amount of trees for this year's meet!

Buick guy, previous threads and articles in our magazine have explained that the loss of the white field, blue filed and blue field north has caused the change. The region is doing what they can to make things work given this big challenge.

When I was 18 at my first Hershey Meet in 1969 the Football field inside the Stadium was COVERED with Brass Era cars! We also stood against the snow fence at the top of the hill in the flea market and wondered if the Blue field would cover the rest of the field down to road that has the Turkey Hill station on the corner. That area is now covered by Hershey Park it took about 3-4 years, then the Red field poped up were the Red Robin Restaurant is along with Wendy's. That was back when a RUNNING Sinplex 50HP sold for $25,000.00 Yep! Those were the days! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Steve, has HERCO been mowing the old golf course on a timely basis (ie every week) this summer?

Do they intend to have the area where the show cars will be parked in tip top shape for Fall Hershey? (ie no long grass or Big clumps of freshly cut grass)

BTW, how is the condition of the road next to the water company offices these days?

Will that road be used for the show cars to enter/exit the show field?

Show cars on grass???? That is the best way to display an automobile in my opinion. Last Hershey Meet with cars on grass must have been in the very late 1970's before the maintenance building went up.

Looking at the map it appears day parking for the flea markets will be "off field" to the north requiring a shuttle bus ride. Is this correct?

The grass is routinely maintained much like it was when it was a golf course.
