1956 Factory Air

I never realized that the factory A/C air vents on the '56 popped up from the top of the dash like this. This makes me think of all kind of options for doing the A/C vents on my '54.

Yes, that's how the '55-'56 A/C unit is set up--my 400 is the same. Looking at the photos on the ad, the dash pad looks like it has been replaced at one time, it's not quite right, but all of the originals have shrunk so that it's a moot point. The car listed here on ebay is a very high number car, late in production.

This car is number 4270. They made 3775 Patricians in 1956. I assume the first was number 1000, so this car is very close to the end of the run. Interesting (but looks EXPENSIVE to reserect!!!).

The guy called me about the car. He was toying with the idea of parting it out. I advised him to try eBay to see what it is worth this week. I am hoping it doesn't get parted, they ain't making any more of em.

IMO. "Buy it now" at $5,000 is way too much for a 56 Pat in that condition, original A/C or not. If anybody does buy it and needs front fenders (the ones on that Pat are BAD), the ones off my 56 400 that we just disassembled at the PV8C meet last May are pretty darn good.

That car is about 3 hours from me. I think my wife would begin Divorce proceedings were I to come home with it. The interior looks nice, and I now notice that the dash pad is original, and in better shape than many others its age.

Well if he decides to part it, I want a crack at those Air Vents. I would find some way to mount those suckers in my '54. I'm not a fan of those under the dash vents as they are to low for me. I like the in-your-face kind of A/C. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Any the face guy are you, I looking for AC in my 42 limo, but the front compartment need to be hidden, the back can go on the shelf like the orginal, I got the truck AC box for now.

Nice pics! So, how many of those vents do you suppose got opened by passengers who flicked their ashes inside? How many of those passengers survived the incident?

My step-Dad and Mom used to have riders that worked in the same place as them. The one rider, a lady, used the cigarette lighter in the brand-new Packard and then threw it out the window. I never saw her again.<img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I don't know whether she was just barred from riding or some other more deadly solution was employed. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
