Anybody know a custom cover shop?

I have an interior cover for my '90 convertible, and I love it, but it is made for use with the top down. There are; however, times that I must leave the car in the sun with the top up. I feel a little "dorky" putting a full cover over the car at the mall or at work, and sunshades only cover the front window. The sun heats up the interior and ages the vinyl. The problem is even greater with the coupe (mine's a 91).

I have made a prototype cover that covers the top and the windows only, and it keeps the sun out, and goes on and off in a jiffy. It is just the ticket for sunny days when you can't park in a shady spot. (see photo attached)

My problem is, I can't find anyone interested in making these 2 covers for me. I have tried upholstery shops and canvas shops, and nobody wants the job. Does anybody know a shop that might be interested? I would like one for the coupe and one for the convert (they are slightly different)

Have you tried going to a boat canvas shop?, your in cleveland so there should be some around you, plus marine grade canvas is desgined to withstand all of the elements year around, if they start questioning you just tell them it won't be any harder then making a custom camper top for a boat, in fact it would probably be easier then a simple Bimini top also.

I really like the idea (have both the interior and whole car cover at present and would find yours very useful. Barney Eaton would be the man for this.......I forget who (Barney, Alf) was instrumental in having the interior cover made but Barney would remember for sure....

GOOD IDEA ! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Something else for me to spend money on....money that I haven't got <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I put the 30% legal tint on my Reatta but the shop said even its lightest tint will stop 98% of the sun's harmful rays, including the UV rays. The tint also makes the car interior much cooler and theAC has less work to do. I still cover the entire car, however, if it is going to set for two or three days to protect the paint from sap, bird droppings, etc. If you go for the tint, make sure the shop applies the rear window in one piece. Don't let them talk you into a two-piece tint job, since with time they will migrate apart. If one shop can't do it, find one that will. It might cost a little more. Mine tint job cost $170, about as much as a decent cover.

If you decide to do that make sure you don't tint the front sides lower then a 50% VLT, and don't go below a 70% VLT for the windshield.... in Ohio,(legally <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />)

Hmmm...Dolores, former owner of our Select 60, had a nice custom made cover that goes over all the glass and the top. We don't find much use for it. I can get pix or something if you wish.

Please send picture if you can. Can you find out who made it?

I sell Covercraft custom covers (at very good prices) and the interior cover for convertibles became a hot topic about three years ago...with the help ALF (Jerry Sellers) Covercraft made a pattern. This was done only for the convertible with the top down. NO..there is no plan to do a coupe cover that only does the top and windows. Why? After lots of comments about not having one for the convertible, I twisted arms at Covercraft and they made the pattern. Once it was done, we probably got a total of 6 orders, hardly worth their time.

If you are interested in a car cover or an interior cover for your Reatta, contact me and I will get you a excellant fit, several material choices, and good prices.
