I was in the salvage yard this morning, pulling a Teves pump out of a '89 Cadillac, and, trying to be careful, broke the fluid input elbow at the pump. How do you remove the elbow from the pump?

yeah those are a pain in the butt. And there is the little clip.

I've found it best, when they're stuck, to turn the hose to loosen it up, and then pull it off.

If it is not real dirty, you can see a dab of red paint where the spring clip goes into the casting. Pull the clip and rotate the 90 degree fitting to clear some of the dirt. then carefully pull and turn the 90 degree out.

They are still available from GM and I would give you the number but am almost to Rochester. If you have not got the info by next week, repost this and I will find the number.

Looked up the number myself; for those who want to know, it's 25528399. Listed in the P&I 44e for $1.55. I'll let you know what it costs in 2006 when I visit my Chevy dealer ( closest GM dealer).

If all else fails, it could probably be had at a hardware store.

I purchased 2 in Aug of last year and the list price was $4.39

Sorry I didn't get back to you on the number.

Is this one of those things that breaks 90% of the time when the main part is changed? In other words should I have one on hand if I were changing the Teves?

Thanks,

Nic
