Guest F14CRAZY Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 You guys know anything about them? I guess it was a dealer-installed thing and intended for Rivi's, but a phone operated by the ECC would be cool. I guess they were analog. What carrier can still be used with these? Any other info on them?
Guest CL_Reatta Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Just took out the "big antique" now (its about the size of my stereo faceplate <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />), from 2000 and it is analog and was able to get a signal so it should work. it is a cingular.
Guest CL_Reatta Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 I believe that phone had everything built in because I can not locate a sim card on it but I know that if I were to use it right now I would be billed by cingular(about $50/minute w/out a contract lol). I know my newer phone that is now small enough that when I press the 5 button I also get every other number has a sim card if that helps??
Guest F14CRAZY Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Um, I dunno.I dunno if SIM cards were around when they were made though. I was thinking it would be cool to use a Reatta phone with a prepaid card
Shelby Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Cell phone companies are fast getting rid of the analog systems and will not connect any analog equipment. We have a lot of analog phones that work great in the boonies where new digital phone won't work. But they are going all stop working very soon. The cell phone companies make alot more money charging teenage parents a lot of money for text messaging and sending pictures. We are buying satellite phones.
Guest CL_Reatta Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 satellite phones are cool except they havent totally adapted to everyday use becuase they lose the signal whenever you go under anything, or use it under a roof.
allstarbuick Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 I was wondering if there is a way to convert the transceiver from analog to digital in the factory phone system? Or maybe a way you could hook up Bluetooth to work with the ECC? Would be a great way to keep the Reatta/Riviera original. I was actually looking for the factory phone/harness to put in my 88 Riviera. They seem pretty rare to come by. If anybody knows how I would be able to get my hands on one of them, it would be appreciated.
tbenvie Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 I found a complete cell phone from a Trofeao that was a factory unit-had a lot of components and was hoping to put it in a reatta some day.Another question-I have a Lincoln Mark VIII with a built in hands free analog ophone. Verizon would not renew it a few years ago because it was not analog. If I get a calling card, could I still make calls?
Guest F14CRAZY Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 I'll dwell on it. Perhaps somehow one could make an adapter to connect to the headset jack on a modern phone, but that doesn't help deal with dialing
