Hi everyone! I am a new user here so excuse me if I placed this in the wrong place!

I have a 1969 Delta 88 Convertible. It has like 37000 original miles on it. Everything works and the interior is very clean (needs to be washed is all, no rips or tears) It has a 454? V8 in it with a stainless steel exhaust. The car runs great but could probably use a slight tune up as it has been sitting in the garage for many years. Formally my grandmothers car, and my moms car, now passed down to me.

It has a few dings here and there, a badge that needs to be replaced, a bumper rechromed, very minor bodywork, etc that needs to be done to it, but it is a great looking classic car. We eve still have the parade boot for it!

That said, how much could one expect to get if selling this car? It has sat in the garage too long and I haven't the time nor money to invest in getting it back to perfect shape. It's very close to being perfect already, but I rather pass it on to an enthusiast that would really be into it.

My dream was to someday get everything done and then cruise in the Woodward dream cruise here in michigan. But that day will have to come for someone else.

So any help on this one? Or anyone from the detroit michigan area that knows a good appraiser? Or that would be interested in purchasing it?

Please let me know. And thanks all for reading my long winded first post!!

Tony

From Collector Car and Truck Market...

Calling this a #3, $4825; #2, $7250.

From Manheim, good = $6000; excellent = $12,000.

From your description, and needing body repairs, I'd call it a good #3, possibly close to a #2 and a good for Manheim. I personally like the Collector Car and Truck Market pricing. It's lower and more reasonable, with some fairly clear descriptions as to condition.

Ultimately, the cars only worth what someone else is willing to buy it for. The pricing above will not reflect desireability of the car, but being a convertible, it should generate some interest.

Thanks JD, I appreciate the info! I understand that it might take time to sell it because you are right, its really up to someone who wants it what it is worth to them. I just don't want to go and sell it for $2000 when its worth twice that much, its not like I haven't been holding on to it for years anyways...just feel its time to do something with it.

Any thoughts on the best place to try and sell? I was thinking ebay but i'm not sure what other sites might generate more interest? I will post it up here as well, including pics, once I get a chance to wash it down and clean it up a little. Its not a mess as its been garage kept, but it was in a newly built garage and when the dust settled, it all settled on it. So it just needs a good cleaning.

Ebay is a crap shoot in my opinion. I've bought five of my six cars from ebay. From a buyers perspective, it was quite good. However, three of the sellers were not too happy as the car sold for quite a bit less than they wanted. In two cases, prior to the end of the auction, I offered them $500 more than I won the auction for. In both cases, they chose to continue the auction which turned out good for me.

You will get a LOT of viewers though on ebay.

www.americandreamcars.com always has great cars and occasionally some of less than #2 quality. It gets a lot of hits.

Hemmings is always a choice.

www.cars-on-line.com has a lot of quality cars also. They get tons of action also.

I have no idea what these places charge, but it's four high volume hit locations. Good luck!

In the Detroit area we have one of the best at evaluating classic cars.

His name is "TOP HAT JOHN" 586-465-1933.

See you on Woodward! in my 1970 Olds 98 Convertible

Thanks for the tip! Does he charge much?

Oh and for anyone interested, this car is very much for sale! I haven't had the chance to get any pics taken yet, and I probably won't be able to until next week. Feel free to pm me here if interested and/or send me a email to aarmento@gmail.com

Thanks!

Here are some pics my son took in the garage a while back. Its all I have for now, but I will try and get more that are more representative of the vehicles overall shape this wednesday....

Edit: I attached the file...apparantly you have to click on "attachment" in the header of the post to see the file...I don't know if there is another way to attach it, so I will just leave that one there for now...

2nd Edit: This is a side view of the car showing the interior with the parade boot on..
