Guest Anthenium Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Hello fellow TC lovers,(I've already posted 3 or 4 times. I saw this format on another post and thought I would use it to make a FORMAL introduction.)My name is Tony. I'm new here but have had my TC for Three Years. My car is a Red/Ginger/Ginger colored car with the Turbo II engine and I live in The Metro-Detroit Area. Looking forward to conversing and meeting with the other list members.I am also in the process of picking up a 1990 Yellow/Black/Black 16Valve (1 of 4 with this Combo) from my Dad in Oregon. It has a scant 62K miles on the clock, and I want to have it ready for the Woodward Ave DreamCruise Aug 19th. http://www.woodwarddreamcruise.com/Last year I did not see any other TC's, or Maserati's at the DreamCruise other than my own. This year my GirlFriend and I will each be driving one, so we will be Representing the humble TC, as well as the Mighty Maserati marque's. Anyone else going to be there, driving ANYTHING? It is an AWESOME event! The fact that I grew up reading/dreaming about Woodward Ave, and now drive Woodward everyday to/from work makes the DreamCruise almost sureal. My Brothers have come here from as far as San Diego, CA & Orlando, FLA to participate. I'd LOVE to have the opportunity to meet a few of you if you could make it out, and MAYBE even make a pass with more than the 2 cars already planned. Thanks for having such a Wonderful site for this DreamCar of mine,
cowancom Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Welcome Tony! Someday I'll make it to the Dream Cruise. My wife grew up in Lavonia, went to Churchill High. I've added a link so you can see what your red car would look like with 18" rims.If you ever visit your brother let me know,Im in Orlando too.http://web.tampabay.rr.com/cowancom/Tims_TCs.htmhttp://www.cardomain.com/ride/2154576
TwinCamFan Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Welcome on board Tony If I remember correctly from another post of yours you are going to drive Dad's car home from Oregon right? If it sat for extended periods or the history of this car is kind of unknown, you want to do a really thorough fluids check before you hit the road with it. That includes the trans fluid in that ultra rare 284 transmission. If an axle seal has been weeping slowly over the years, the trans could be low... The check/fill plug is a large socket head (Allen wrench) eith 8mm or 10mm. It's easiest to pull the driver's side wheel off to access that plug (the top one, not the drain plug ) and then just fill to the bottom of the hole. The general consensus here is that 284 will last a long time if it doesn't run low on fluid.Good luck and enjoy the trip, perfect season for it Alan
Guest Anthenium Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Small World. Before my divorce I lived in Livonia. My Daughter graduated from Stevenson, but my Rowdy Son got booted from there, and graduated from Churchill. Stevensons Arch-Rival...I like the way the red car looks, almost Tuner-Esque. I've thought about getting a TC Shell, and going all Ricer with it. Drop the Neon Turbo drive train in it, and have some fun! Probably never happen, but fun to think about. I hope to be visiting my Crazy, Rebel brother later this year. He's got a Bulldog with my name on it! Probably drive my Subaru Wagon down there, but I'd love to hook up when I do!Thanks for the warm welcome,
Guest Anthenium Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Hi Alan,Well, the trip has been canceled. My Dad doesn't want to trade now, just sell me the 16-Valve. I've given the Red TII to my GF, and I'm going to have the 16V car transported. It's just under $1000 to do that, and about double to fly out/drive back. Plus no risk of breakdowns. The car has been gone through recently, and seems to run fine. Thanks for the tips though. I plan to go from Stem to Stern, and perform ALL maintenance that can not be verified once I get her home. And also, with only 62K on the clock, adding 3,000+ miles just to get it home doesn't sound too appealing. I typically drive my current TC to work on Friday from April until November, and on weekends. Maybe 4K or 5K miles a year. I'll probably keep the same schedule with the new one. The 16-Valve car is truly my Dream Car. I'd rather have the Ginger interior over the Black, but hey...Thanks for the Warm Welcome!

If you have the money.....LOTS....SMP Performance had the 16 vavle puttin out about 900 hp this year. About 180 mph at 9,300 rpm. Oh, that's just in a quarter mile. i don't think the TC body would be too stable at those speeds though.
