NYBobP Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 I mentioned in an earlier post that I had found the original vendor for the black Reatta license plates that were used on the showroom floor. They are doing a sample run (see attach) and the cost will be minimal. I should have the plates in a few days and will give more info as soon as I get them. Not sure how many people would want one, but they can do small runs as needed. It will be at a fraction of the cost the plates went for on e-Bay. Hopefully they will be available for the Buick Nationals and will send samples to Carole Madsen to take orders and the proceeds going to the Reatta Division.
NYBobP Posted June 30, 2006 Author Posted June 30, 2006 I am hoping to get these in the next week. Will let everyone know. I am also sending Carole Madsen Reatta convertible t-shirts as well for the Reatta booth.
Kev2862 Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Hi, Checking to see when the plates will be available and how do I go about ordering a couple. Thanks, Kevin
NYBobP Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 The license plates were supposed to be shipped to me today. I hope to get them before the Nationals. However, I want to make sure they are exact. Have kept a record of everyone who e-mailed me. Will let you know as soon as they come. Thanks!
Ames63 Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Bob,Thanks for doing this, Please put me down for one.Randy Harrison
wastephens Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Bob,would sure be nice if you have two exter to send my way, thanks for your effert on the license plates.
Guest Tonivisa Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I will take one. Then, I will need a 91 Polo Green Conv. to put it on. Should not be a problem. Toni
89REATTAJIM Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Bob, if it's not too late, pls put me down for one. Tks: Jim
NYBobP Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 I was told that the plates were shipped to me on Thursday 7/6, and should arrive at my office on Wednesday 7/12. Once they arrive I will check to make sure that they are EXACT. The first run was only small, but should have enough for everyone who sent e-mails, responses, etc. I had to pay about the amount of a Reatta high-mileage car to get the die made and the first plates cast, but hope to hold the amount to $30 or less, with a % going to the Reatta Division. I can always run more if needed without the upfront cost.If they do arrive on Wednesday, I will overnight a bunch of them to either Jim Finn or Carole Madsen for sale at the Reatta booth at the Nationals. (Carole already has the 5-color Reatta convertible T-shirts to take orders). If you're not at the Nationals, I will send you license plates from my office. Will start a new thread with order info, once they arrive. If you sent me an e-mail, will respond directly.I should find a cheaper hobby.

Rawja Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Congratulations Bob, you just single-handedly destroyed the value of "Reatta" plates. Thankfully I only had one.
Guest Tonivisa Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 RAWJA---All of us will be sure to tell the world that you have an original and not a replica.
manikmekanik Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Actually, these would be a new re-issue from the OEM, not a replica, nor a reproduction. Same as an original, or NOS, without oxidization from age, nor dust from sitting on a shelf.
Guest CL_Reatta Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Maybe a marking of some sort can go on the back of the new plates so that it won't hurt the value of the original plates as much, the same as real designer clothing has certain marks and replicas don't, just do that process in the opposite order?
Rawja Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Does anyone realize I was kidding? As Manik stated these will be identical in every respect and therefore they "deserve" equal status to the original.Supply and demand. Personally I'm more happy that the plate will be available to those that want it than sad that the value of my $100.00 plate will be $30.00. C'est la vie.
Guest jcc3inc Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Hi NYBobP,I'd like a license plate also; let me know the total cost and I'll senda check.Regards,Jack C.
NYBobP Posted July 12, 2006 Author Posted July 12, 2006 The Reatta license plates arrived today. They are perfect. I have sent Jim Finn and Carole Madsen 50 of them for their booth at the Nationals. They are $30 each, and a portion of each sale goes to the BCA Reatta Division. If you would like one (or many), just e-mail me at RPopyk@aol.com, and I'll send you info on where to send the check or credit card info. If you already e-mailed me, I will send you details shortly.
