Hey all,

I am turning the fate of my reatta to the intellegence of this board once again. I got a warning that I had an electrical prolem. After checking the diagnostics I got the code E041.

The problem, the book says, is possibly the connections at the ECM. I have checked everything else and it's all fine.

Anyway, the question is, How do I pull the wire harnesses out of the ECM to remove it. I want to try to clean the connections and see if that fixes it. I got under the dash and pulled that all apart and arrived at the ECM. I know to remove it I take out that one Torx screw and it slides out, but I have to remove the wire harnesses. I tried a little, but I felt like I was going to break some wires so I thought I would ask how those harnesses work.

Thanks in advance.

jorge.

Could be wrong but I thought that code meant electrically "missing" when the engine runs? If the code is continuous it's probably the magnet, but couldn't it also be just be a bad plug wire or a bad coil pack? Just thought I'd be the voice of dissent in case it saves you time and headaches.

The code 41 isn't a bad code. The motor will run at about 80% power, but shouldn't be as bad as "missing"

Well, I replaced the Cam Sensor. It wasn't the problem. Looks like it is the ECm itslef. According to the wonderful manual I have, if I am getting over 6 volts at the 1C5 pin in the number 1 harness that goes into the ECM, everything before that point is ok. It is either a bad connection or a faulty ECM. I cleaned the connection and I still get the code.

Anyone know where I can find a new ECM and /or how much they cost?

Have you replaced the camshaft interruptor magnet?

Actually, you probably can't tell the difference with the cam sensor inop. Mine was dead for over a year with no noticeable degradation in performance or economy. Still got over 30 mpg (as high as 33 sometimes) average freeway cruising.
