FJD2004 Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Just bought my first Buick - a 71 GS with 74 original miles, buckets, console, etc... I'm having the car painted in 2 stage urethane and was wondering how to properly either wet sand or compound the car to really get it smooth. How long after it its painted do you attempt this and do you suggest letting the body shop do it for a extra charge? Thanks!
Guest my3buicks Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 If you have a 71 GS with 74 original miles, you better let the body shop do it all!!!!
Guest imported_MrEarl Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 74 original miles why would a body shop need to touch the thing in the first place. Now if it's 74,000 then that may be different matter. I'd first suggest making sure that it does indeed need painting. A very good detail shop can do wonders with paint touch up, compounding, polish and wax and as we all know it can only be the original paint once. But if it comes to painting, unless you have some experience with wet sanding I'd let the pros do it. Why not post some pictures, we'd love to see it.
FJD2004 Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 Thanks guys - sorry it is 74,000 - I will post some pictures soon
