Guest mowog Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 I know this has been covered before, but I'll ask just to be sure. Creeping along, I've finally got all the engine work done on the 248, and wanted to clean up and paint the engine bay before putting the block back in. Now, this car (38 coupe) was "somebody's" resto project before me, but the guy I bought it from didn't know anything. The body's painted what I think is Titian Maroon, amateur job, the kind I'D do, but I like the color. I don't know if it's the original color, and the data plate says '520' (Whistler Grey), but I don't know if the PLATE's original. Anyway, everything in the engine bay has been painted black, I assume by the previous guy. Now, I know (I think) the firewall needs to be body color, but what about the rest? Under the spray-can black, the fender surfaces that extend inside were red (i.e. same as outside), but I don't know if this was original. Also, I see no sign of this on the inside of the vertical panels or the underside of the hood panels. These are coated with what may be a black epoxy primer. Anybody know for sure what's correct? I've got it all prepped, paint purchased, hoping to spray this weekend.- Dan
Oxnard Montalvo Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Titian Maroon is a sharp color. The short answer is body color everywhere except the inside of the hood side panel louvers (grayish silver) and a 4 inch vertical stripe on the inside of the front center piece where the grill bolts on (black) If you provide a phone number via email or whatever I can explain much betterer. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Guest mowog Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Hi, Oxnard. My email's dbradley@triad.rr.com. Email me there, I can send you a phone number, or your number and I can call you, whichever. Thanks, I really appreciate your help.- Dan
