Roadster90 Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Does anyone have access to a Chiltons for the labor involved (hours), or have had to pay and know the cost of fuel pump replacement please?
padgett Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Is quite time consuming (figure an afternoon) but almost all grunt work and parts replacement (always use a Delco fuel pump), not that much expertise required.
alexhouston Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 I was quoated $495 at the parts house. I do my own work so I don't know a labor cost. I refused to pay such a ransom and installed a used one off a Riviera. I used the whole mechenism right out of the Riviera tank straight into my Reatta tank. My cost, zero.Pump itself off many common GMs fit but be sure not to damage the fuel level sensing mechenism. You will have to change just the pump itself, not the float, etc.I am sure others have input?
Shelby Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 $300 plus parts is about right. It takes a long time and is VERY DANGEROUS.Don't waste you time and money putting in anything less than a NEW Delco pump and screen. Have them put new stainless hose clamps on while they are doing it. The stock clamp rust out and leak.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Yeah I got an Advance pump and it's loud as heck when it's warm. Louder than Fords. You can hear it at 75 mph. It's worth it for a Delco
