Ligetime guarantee Brake Pads

I have not purchased a set of pads for my 1989 Riviera in over 10 years thanks to the Lifetime guarantee against wear out offered by Pep Boys and Auto Zone.

Seems like they have stopped this policy.

Does anyone know of anyone else offering this guarantee?

I think Advanced Auto still does on what they call Premium pads. I suspect they are a harder compound and like hard tires, last longer.

I was not aware until recently that all pads are stamped with a code that tells their coeficent of friction. Different grades of pads have different coefients. I need to dig out the magazine and keep it where I can reference that information.

I called my local Advanced store and they advise that all their Lifetime guarantte pads against wearout are gone. They only guarantee against defect.

My 1989 Riviera with 280k plus on it has use front pads every 25k miles and with the Pep Boys Lifetime guarantee I only paid for first set. way back in 1990. I have been happy with Raybestos replacement Pads.

I called a bunch of places and all said it is gone. Guess I will now have to pay.

I still have a lifetime Bosh Water Pump from Pep Boys and Lifetime Wiper Motor from Autozone. Also Lifetime Calibers from Pep Boys.

Things change!

It was a good thing while it lasted!
