Bill Stoneberg Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 So I am finally starting to put the car back together after gettng painted and am looking for the correct front fender bolts and star washers.Anyone have an idea where I can get new ones or I am I going to have to rob parts cars and clean and plate them.
imported_buick5563 Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Hi Bill,I took all of mine plus a few others to a plater and had them zinc plated. I think with all of the other hood latches, wiper brackets, jack, etc. it was around $200. I wasn't able to find the double star (inner/ outer grabbing points) anywhere. Of course any very visible bolts got the best original ones and the hidden ones got new "regular" hardware from Lowe's, a surprisingly well stocked hardware section.MikeSo what car did your pop finally accept as his ride to Rochester?
Bhigdog Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Not sure what you are working on but Cars (in N.J.) has the correct (or close enough) bolts and washers for early 50's Buicks. Mcmaster-carr has the internal/external lock washers. About $12/100 for the 5/16"........Bob
Bill Stoneberg Posted June 14, 2006 Author Posted June 14, 2006 Thanks for the info, I hadn't thought about Cars.Mike, My Dad and I are probably going to go in my Station Wagon. I would love to take the 47 again, but not without A/C for him. 82 years and 100 degress dont mix well.
imported_buick5563 Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 I hear ya Bill,I actually just charged the AC last weekend and took it for a shakedown run on Sunday. It isn't freezing up like it did last year so hopefully it will stay "cool". The outside temp was winning the battle although the AC worked pretty much like I think it is supposed to. (Yes Willie, I had the visors at half mast to get the cool air on my face). I think we are leaving on Tuesday, so I understand we will be bringing up the rear again this year. I did hear about McMaster Carr after I finished my car.See ya.Mike
