Guest imported_Speedster Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 I found that the Clutch Pressure Plate in '29 645 has two hairline cracks that go all the way thru the 1/2" thick plate. So I'm trying to find a good replacement? The Super-8 clutch parts are made differently than the Standard-8 parts. I guess the ol' straight-8 was Puttin out Tooo Much Horsepower for the poor clutch to handle. Thanks for the help,
Guest imported_Speedster Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 I bought a Good pressure plate from Fort Wayne Clutch.http://www.fortwayneclutch.com/
Tom M Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Rick,Glad to hear you found one. Is it new or old stock?
Guest imported_Speedster Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Even tho it looks like it has been banged around on the shelf for many years, it is Newer stock, since it is made from Ductile cast-iron (which is much better) , not the original type Gray cast-iron (which was used in the '20s & '30s). The Ductile is an improved alloy mixture and is a lighter gray color.
