Hey guys,

I have a 55 Buick 46R and would like some information on parts interchange between model years and models. I have only owned the Special for a short while and have not collected much more than the original service manual. I know allot of you have been collecting vehicles and literature for some time and would like your opinion.

If you were going to purchase just one piece of parts information what would it be?

Thanx in advance for any advise,

Rich

Rich, personally whenever I need to know what years will interchange I generally go to my Chassis and Body Part Manuals. An original manual with good illustrations representing about 2-3 years past your model works best. Takes a while to become familiar with it and how to read but then it's quite easy to determing what will interchange between different series and years. If you need help with anything now ask away, I or someone on here will be glad to help.

Rich, finding ORIGINAL Interchange and Body/Chassis Parts Manuals is getting harder and harder and the prices are going up by the day. Most of the ones offered for sale now are reproductions at high prices too. I finally gave in to modern technology and bought an Interchange Manual on CD as well as a Body/Chassis Parts Manual. There is a fella on ebay selling them fairly cheap in my opinion at $17.99 per manual + shipping. As Lamar (MrEarl) said, you'll want one that covers 3 or 4 years after yours like a 55-60 or something like that.

The way the guy explained it to me, this one covers 40-60 but is best for like 54 or 55-60.

This interchange manual covers the years listed for ALL domestic Makes and Models!

Nice fella to deal with and answered all my questions and emails! I would advise you to contact him directly to make sure these are the ones you'd need if you decide to go this route.

Lamar and Carl,

Thanx for the info. I will contact the gentleman selling the CDs and get a copy that covers multiple model years as you suggested.

Lamar,

No specific questions at this time. I am planning a nut and bolt restoration and I am just getting my research in order before I start. I must say this site and it's participants are an invaluable resource. Thanx to all for the information and support.
