rack007 Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I need to replace the fuel pump in my sons 90,{we call it the rocket}...is there any way to do it,without droping the fuel tank?
Guest F14CRAZY Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 My rocket's faster.I have replaced my pump, but not cuz it died. You do have to pull the tank down. It isn't that bad though. If your pump still kinda works, you can remove the pressured line from the fuel rail under the hood, attach a piece of rubber line, and run it into a gas can. WIll need to run a wire for power from the battery to the mysterious little connector under the hood in the area of the brake system and air cleaner. The Reatta's tank isn't that bad to do, however
Shelby Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 You need to drop the tank but This can be very dangerous,So be very careful. Gettin all the gas and vapors out is hard. Replace it with a NEW Genuine GM pump and screen. It is quieter and will last longer. If you don't you will putting a new one in sooner than you like.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Oh yeah, use GM. Maybe Walbro or something, but the one in my tank now for an '89 Turbo Trans Am (I think a GP Sorensen) is loud, especially when after driving a few hours
