Hi,

I recently acquired this 1965 Wildcat Convertible. It is a California Car and is fairly straight but is a good candidate for a restoration. It is has a Wildcat 445 engine and has factory A/C. It looks all original (I will know if it is #'s matching next week). Can I get some estimates of what the value is for this car?

Thanks,

Mark

Congrats on the Convert and welcome. You are asking one heck of a good question that you may not get too many answers. Its hard to judge a car from picts and I know no one wants to misinform. The car looks like its solid and a very good canidate for resoration. It looks like it has the glass back in the top which is new for 1965. Sorry I could not be much more help but it is a good looking car!!!

Try here.. www.collectorcarmarket.com

#4=$2725 or #3=$5725 with some pluses for A/C and minuses for whatever you have in the car.

I actually find these values to be realistic when buying; much more so than NADA.

On a more philosophical vein, it's worth whatever you're willing to pay for it if you want it real badly and when it's time to sell, it's worth whatever you can get for it. Book values and personal opinions are only opinions. In the end, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it when the seller is ready to sell it.

Here is what the Manheim Gold book shows, it is usually pretty realistic:

1965 BUICK WILDCAT Dsp/HP Eng Fair Good Exc Show

2D CONVERTIBLE 1965-66 401/325 V8 5,500 10,000 19,000 25,000

The Gold Book was established in 1968 and is the oldest continuously published authority on collector car values. Gold Book's database of collector car auction results and verified private transactions is the largest in the world. Its editors and auction reporters attend or monitor over 100 collector car auctions and private-owner sales venues in the U.S. and Western Europe each year. The Gold Book staff are members of numerous collector car clubs that monitor trends in the car-collecting hobby. http://www.manheimgold.com/

That engine, by the way, is a 401 cubic inch, not a 445. 445 is the torque rating. I looked at a 1965 Wildcat convertible at a swap meet in Grand Prairie, Texas on Saturday, not as nice as yours, but running and with working factory A/C, but needing new upholstery all over and needing paint & rechroming, good body, no rust, tan paint with brown interior, not a very inspiring color, what I would call a condition #4 car. The asking price was $4900, for what that information is worth.
