Guest De Soto Frank Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 I hate to even pose the question, but is there a ball-park value for the 323 cubic-inch Chrysler straight-eight, one from 1948, the other from 1950 (solid valve lifters) ?Both engines are still in their original cars, and both are in running-order; no visible block cracks from the outside...A private message reply would be fine, if any respondents don't won't to contribute to "internet speculation or inflation"...Thanks for your input... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Even though they are running, most folks would want to rebuilt the motor unless it is going into a summer driver/original condition Chrysler that has spun a bearing or something. By themselves, marketed as a pickup item only, few people are in the market to buy these motors and keep them for the eventual time they might need them.So for a motivated buyer with that summer driver who has a worn out 323 8 - $400.For an ebay type auction where the buyer comes and picks it up after you remove it - $100 to $300.
