CBoz Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Here's a pic of one of the big Ks with some other full classics in the background. For those of you who've never attended a CCCA show, you really should -- nothing like it.
CBoz Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 ... And I must confess that my personal favorite at the show wasn't a Lincoln, but the '36 Cadillac Aero Coupe. V16 and one of 4 built that year.
Rolf Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Sorry Cece, but your behemoth V-16 pales to insignificance compared to that exquisite yellow Lincoln Roadster in the upper left, gots to be a 12 cyl K right?? Gorgeous car, notice how both the K and Cad had LZ influences, but as the guy says, "taste is mostly in the mouth". Must have been quite a show, thanks for the pics
CBoz Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Well, Rolf, I wouldn't kick any of those cars out of the garage for leaking oil
Dave Mitchell Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 The Cad V16 Aero coupes were initially designed for the GM exhibit at the 33/34 Chicago World's Fair - the same body was used later as the basic design of the V16 didn't change until the new series in 1938. If there are similarities to the Lincoln Zephyr, it may be that the designers saw cars like the Cad and the MB 500 and 540K Autobahn Courier Coupes and were influenced by them. No dig at the LZ, which is a neat car, but just a timeline observation.
CBoz Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 I'm sure inspiration for the '36 Zephyr came from a lot of places, but take a look at the pics of the 1933 Pierce Silver Arrow show car on this page and tell me what you think http://pages.infinit.net/amphilot/streamliner/streamliner.htm
Dave Mitchell Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 The Silver Arrows are striking cars. Photos don't really do them justice either - it is amazing when you see one in person, particularly when you think of it in context with the other cars on the road in 1933.
West Peterson Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 I'd have to disagree with you there, Dave. I was never so disappointed when I finally saw a Silver Arrow in person. In my opinion, it's not as graceful looking in person... it's just BIG.
