Guest JDHolmes Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Could someone provide me wheelbase specifications on a 55 Pontiac Chieftain 4 door wagon please. I just acquired this and have a long trip to go pick it up and want to make sure I have the right trailer to get it home.
novaman Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Overall length for the 55 V-8 Chieftain is 203.25" , the Star Chief is 210.25", according to my '63 Chilton's manual. (doesn't specify that a wagon is different) They don't list a wheelbase. Hope this helps some.

Ron Green Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 From the 55 manual. Chieftain, Series 27 806 & 870 station wagon overall length is 206.6" (cars are 203.2"), width is 75.4", height is 61", wheelbase is 122" and road clearance is (7.10 tires) 6.7". Weight is not listed but it is probably in the 3,300 pound range. The dealer book which was made pre-production has somewhat different figures however the mauual should be correct.Series 28 vehicles (Star Chief) are a few inches bigger. Nice car. Recommended selling price was $2,504.
Guest JDHolmes Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Thanks folks. This will help a lot. Just a bit over 10' should fit UHaul like a dream.
