steve90
I have a cherry 1990 coupe with just 22,000 actual miles. Just got the car out of storage and noticed some drips on my garage floor. It's not oil...appears to be power steering fluid (yellow/green in color). Any ideas where the leak might be? Is this common with a low mileage car? Thanks! Guest
If it's yellow/green - sounds like anti-freeze, not power-steering fluid.
Despite the fact that your car has low milage, it's still 11 years old - and I'm betting you haven't replaced any of the rubber yet ('due to low milage'). Rubber deteriorates over time, regardless of miles. Check your hoses, radiator & water pump - probably should check your fan belt while you're at it.
~Brenda
[ 05-02-2001: Message edited by: Reatta2go ]
Reatta Man
Steve,
I agree with the other posts that this is likely antifreeze. If the car hasn't had an antifreeze changeover, it is VERY overdue.
The chemistry of antifreeze changes with age and use. The anti-rust inhibitors break down and the antifreeze can actually cause rust.
I recommend putting the car on a lift or jack stands and checking ALL of the freeze plugs in the engine. If one of them looks wet or you see lots of rust stains, they need to be replaced.
Joe
