Robert's Cars Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 After 31 years of ownership, it's time to sell my 1968 Shelby GT500KR Fastback. The Shelby is acapulco blue with black interior, automatic transmission and 89,000 miles. This an exceptional, untouched original car which is 100% complete including the smog equipment. I drive the car regularly and it has always been listed in the Shelby Registry. Many restorers have viewed this Shelby to correctly restore cars of their own. I am located in Rhode Island. $125,000 Call for details 401-647-3411 evenings.
West Peterson Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 When I was 17 years old, I hopped on a plane from Atlanta to Providence with an $8,000 check, bought a 1968 Shelby GT350 convertible (red, I might add) and drove it back to Atlanta with the top down the whole way. What a blast! My dad had a car exactly like yours, a GT500KR fastback. Every time I would take off gently from a stop sign, there was a screeching noise. My date finally asked me what that noise was. Well... I couldn't help it, but it was terribly hard NOT to spin those bias ply rear tires. That's one car I wish he wouldn't have sold.
Robert's Cars Posted May 31, 2006 Author Posted May 31, 2006 West, Thanks for the great story. I drove my Shelby as an everyday car for the first three years I owned it. Having bought the car when I was 20 years old, I went on many dates and had many experiences similar to yours. Thankfully, I've been able to hold onto the car for 31 years and selling it will pay for a big part of my children's college tuition. Selling will not only leave a void in my garage, but also in my heart.
Joe Block Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 TOugh call selling, I had K or M 1997 fastback, I love to have it back. I will leave a void in your Heart.
