Still time to VOTE

There's still time to get those Board of Directors ballots in.(Must be postmarked before June 1st) In case you've forgotten, they came out way back in the April Bugle issue. I myself have been putting it off due to so much else to take care of but I just filled it out and it is in the mail. One candidate that gets my vote this year is our Bill Stoneberg. Bill's great character, good heartedness, always ready to lend a helping hand or an un-needed part, and the fact that he is a forum member and frequent poster are a few reasons I think he would contribute greatly to the BCA Board. So pull that Bugle out from under all those Hemmings, AACA and other mags stacked on your bedside table and VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Yep, I concur with the comments on our associate Mr. Bill Stoneberg. I voted for him and two "existing elected" board members.

It might be a "sad state of affairs", but in running an entity such as the BCA, it has seemingly become not enough to just have a love of or long association with Buicks to be worthy of a board position, BUT to also keep up with the current technology of electronic communications (other than phone and fax) with other board members and, of course, the constituency (i.e, "us").

EVERYBODY PLEASE VOTE IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO! ALSO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS (AS PRINTED) IN ORDER THAT YOUR VOTE WILL BE VALID AND COUNTED!!!

Best of luck to all of the candidates.

Thanks, guys, for being so concerned, especially about the modern communications on the internet. I hope your enthusiasm does some good. From past history, we have not had a good turnout on the voting, about 10 percent, and that is not good, but, what can we do. Do remember, if you have not voted yet, be sure to put the required sticker on the ballot, it will not be counted unless it has that sticker. Thanks again, Paul Meyer, BCA President

Part of the issue with voter turnout may be the number of candidates...voting for 3 out of 4 doesn't really entice one to vote...if there were more candidates, perhaps there would be more incentive to study them and to choose which you think would be best for the organization. Another related question may be how many BCA members are truly active? Between current board members, Bugle contributors, forum participants, and so forth, how many people is that really? I imagine some join just to be able to join a local chapter, hence thinking of the BCA as a necessity with a good magazine rather than a club of its own merit (not my opinion, just a thought). Also, how different have the candidates been historically?

Another consideration (more for international members) could be the timing...when did they receive their ballots? How much does it cost to mail it back? Will there be time to think about it and get them post-marked as well? How much interest is there in participating in elections for a U.S. based club?

Just a few random thoughts. I certainly don't have the answers, otherwise I wouldn't be asking.

I don't remember them all, but here goes!

President Paul Meyer

Secretary Pete Philips

Bill Stoneberg elected to the board, and I think is treasurer.

Barney Eaton given a plaque for service

Dick Gauchat and Bill Darrow reelected

I should have written them down because my memory is getting worse by the day.

When all else fails, Check outThe BCA Web Page, under Officers!

President: Paul Meyer - Missouri

Vice President: Bill Darrow - Minnesota

Treasurer: Jerry Bodden - North Carolina

Secretary: Bill Stoneberg - Texas

Board Member: John Ball - Pennslyvania

Board Member: Pat Brooks - Iowa

Board Member: Jeffrey Brashares - Ohio

Board Member: Dick Gauchat - Florida

Bill got the luck of the draw and got coerced into being Secretary, the thankless job! But we all know he will embrace it and do a fantastic job for us all!
