Guest F14CRAZY Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 My hybrid LN3/L67 is sweet, but maybe someday...RWD drive: discussed before, but not put into action, yet. Power from the rear would feel so nice, and handling would be awesome. Preferably with a sticker and a decent motor, like a turbo 3.8Pontiac G6 GTP drivetrain: new 3.9L N/A with 240 hp and a 6 speed manual would be sweet. This drivetrain would probably swap in without too much work (comparable with a Series II, but dunno if the 3.9 needs additional control, like variable valve timing, and wouldn't work with the LN3's sensors).Series II/III L67 swap: these motors have tons of aftermarket goodies to make 500hp+. May have to sell out and use a 4T60e or 4T65e, which opens up another mess.
Guest spyhunter2k Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Dream big.Convert it to RWD, and then...Rip the 3.8 out from under the hood and put it behind the seats! Can you imagine what a mid-engine layout would do for handling? Replacing the rear window with a fabricated hinged fiberglass fastback hatch for the necessary access to the new engine location wouldn't be a problem for me. It's just all of those inconvenient details having to do with hooking the engine up in that location that present a problem. If only I had a few extra Reattae to experiment with...
padgett Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Just start with a Corv-8 and drop a Reatta body on it.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 But Padgett, that's the easy way. The Hardcore way is to convert the E-body itself
Richard S Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Why not just modify an old Opel, the one that looked just like a vette?
Guest spyhunter2k Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Corvettes aren't unique. I want my car to be. I like the old Opel GTs, but the age would mean that a full restoration would be necessary--too costly. It would be unique, though.I really like the Reatta. I just don't see it as an end product. I see it as a starting point. It is possible to improve the car, and I will have much more fun doing this than spending twice as much on a newer car.
