Getting ready to do a restoration on my 53 steering wheel and have a question on the chrome finger rests. What would be the proper way to remove them and then put them back on after the wheel is done?

Thanks Albert, really helps! I figured they were attached someway and probably not "Glued On" like todays contraptions that they mistakenly call "Cars". Looks like I have to pull them towards the driver to get them out? will I need any tools that you can think of?

NO, DO NOT not pull toward the driver, they pull up toward the outer rim of the steering wheel. the grips are almost u shaped with two pins on each, you may try spraying with some WD-40. They are held by the same type of arangement as the name bages on the sides of the cars.
