Guest maybe2fast Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 car dead.drove it over to a friends. drove fine. parked it. went to leave. no start no crank. started to work on it. grounded the starter enable relay and it will crank, start and die real fast. I pulled the wiring diagrams and saw that the pass key module grounds the starter enable relay and the fuel. I really am not sure what is wrong because I tried to trick the ohms from the key (.52ohm) with a resistor from radio shack (.47ohm 10%tolerance) and still no start. I will be doing the FSM tests for the passkey system but I am so frustrated with the car. In previous months it would do this every blue moon but start up and start perfect for months. now it is dead for good and I don't know what to do! any ideas? thanks fellas
harry yarnell Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 .52 ohm isn't a valid resistance for the Passkey pellet. There are 15 variances for this resistance; the lowest being 402 ohms, and the highest is 11.8k (11,800 ohms). The contacts in the lock tumbler can get dirty and/or the fine wires connected to the terminals break internally and sometimes make contact; sometimes not.
