Pete Phillips Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I am reassembling my 1949 model 59 wagon, after having brought it home from being repainted, and have a couple of questions on the details for you '49 owners. What color should the PRNDL letters be painted in the transmission quadrant indicator on top of the steering column?Next question: The paint shop painted my hood hinges body color, which I know is wrong, wrong, wrong. Can someone with an unrestored or properly restored car tell me what color those should be? Seems like they were gray or silver on my '52, when I had it. Or should they be semi-gloss black, like the inner fenders? Thanks. Photo attached of the project.Pete Phillips, BCA #7338Sherman, TX

Pete Phillips Posted May 11, 2006 Author Posted May 11, 2006 Rats! I thought I had attached a photo. Will try it again. Cannot seem to figure out how to do it, and I know I have done it before.Pete
Guest Andynator Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Pete,You are correct on the hinges - unpainted silvery-galvanized-looking. I know that's not descriptive, someone will correct me!!I actually have a spare, NOS in box - if you need to borrow it to look at.Andy
Bill Stoneberg Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Pete,Good looking car.... If you use the cad paint from Eastwood which is a shiney silver, you get about as close as you can.I have a new PDRL piece if you want it.... Let me know and I will put it in the mail to you.
Guest imported_Thriller Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Now you got it...looking nice...I really hope to be able to see it at Rochester.
