Hope to see you there John.

David, I'll revise that statement to taking "all of the pictures of people" with cars in the background. I'll be running a slide show in Philly next Februaury all weekend, and need pictures of people as well as cars.

Pictures of the cars are cool, but the

"Look! That's me!" pictures are what make it fun.

Might I add, if anyone would like to contribute pictures of meets and tours for the year 2006, I'd be pleased to accept them. Just remember I'll already have access to the pictures sent to Hershey Headquarters and West Peterson's office!

Your starting to sound like Andrea. She fusses at me all the time about taking pics of cars without people standing around. I keep telling her, "I'm taking a picture of the car, not the people."

I'll be taking some others for my projects with the judges training committee. They'll have people. wink.gif

Well, we've about got the Chevy ready for the show. I washed one side and just wiped the dirt off the other side. Judges only look at one side at a time, right? Gee, I'm tired!

I hope to arrive around 7-7:30 in the morning. Mike and I will be taking pictures and "names" all day. Look us up!

Darn wireless lap top connections!!

My favorite car, a 1930 Duesenberg DC Phaeton(hope that's right).

I had the opportunity to get a picture of this beauty in Richmond Va which ended up on my first color front page of my newesletter. This picture doesn't do this car justice, too early in the afternoon.

Forgot to mention the car above AND this '29 Duesy J Murphy Roadster are both owned by Dwight Schaubach. This picture has Elaine Tarr of the Historic Peninsular Region wishing her husband, Dick would buy this for her.

I'm real partial to Nomads. This 55 is the prettiest color I've ever seen. It was from New York. This picture does not do this car justice. TOO MUCH LIGHT!!!!!

I've got a bunch more pictures guys, but my feet are killing. I drove about 220 miles round trip and burned about $50.00 of gas, an expensive day. I saw a lot of familiar faces, with last names like, Beauchamp, WheelerX2, Heizmann, Zimmerman, Moskowitz, Shore, Miller, Berg, Lee, Cary(Good to see you again Sherm), Rutherford, Bond, and many more I can't remember now(CRS ).

Going to a local bar guys, Asperins ain't doing it.

novaman, Without a doubt as fine an album of photos from a show as I have ever seen. Good job!!! laugh.gif Thank you for taking the time to get such nice photos and rushing to post them for us to enjoy. Sure wish we could have been there. Dad still needs a lot of help. It has only been three weeks since we lost Mom.

That is about 1/5 of the cars there. I understand there were 507 cars registered. I know in the classes I judged we had 2 no-shows.

I have to give my mom some credit for the photos. The first 26 photos of the show were taken by her.At this point her legs couldn't take much more walking and headed back to the car.

I also found out how heavy a small camcorder can get after holding one for 45 minutes through a CJE class.

What surprised me was the number oever Willys Overland cars (jeepster and wagons) plus how many were painted with the WRONG color. One of the Jeepsters and one of the wagon had red metallic paint which is wrong. And one of the wagons the guy had painted woodgrain on the side which is wrong. The '47 Jeep had the wrong tires (big radials) and rims. That should have been a 25 point deduction (5 tires @ 3ea. + 5 rims @ 2ea.).

Youth Group at Va Beach getting a crash course on where the water goes after it leaves the radiator and why "not" to open that "Hot Rad. Cap" on your overheated car. Hey, there's my son Mike( blue shirt on right) looking like he already knows this stuff..."NOT".

Our "official" had a well equipped trunk in his Mopar including, quarts of all fluid types used, jacks, flares, jumper cables, and even Duck Tape...for the wife riding along???

Thanks for posting all the fantastic pics! I didn't take as many as I'd planned to, and didn't get to do as much visiting as I would have liked. Something about keeping pretty busy I guess. Our 74 MGB was one of those "no-shows" as we were not able to get it done in time. Would have gladly shown it as a pending project but with no interior, bumpers, windshield and some final paint touch up to be done we just didnt want to get it our yet.

The youth program was fun as you can tell from the pics. That darned Geko really did know a lot about Model T's - honked the horm, demonstrated with outstretched arms the differences on a "southern tread" T, and even almost got it to run with those big hands.

We had a fantastic weekend and if anyone came away still hungry they have only themselves to blame. I'm proud of all my friends in the Tidewater Region and proud to call them the "home-team" for their hard work putting this event together. I hope everyone got the award they came for and had a good time playing in the Virginia Beach sun-shine!

Thanks to you all for making it a special meet with your fantastic cars!

I really enjoyed. Felt it was one of the better laid out events. Friday everything was up at the hotel. After judge's breakfast, an easy straight shot down to the showfield. EASY to find judge's parking and an actual place to park the vehicle.

The only improvements I could see would be a couple of Marshall's trash can on the show field for the water bottles (had to hang on to mine until after judging) and the hockey puck sausages for breakfast (which the region had no control over) Still would have to give them an A+ on the show. cool.gif

But Pedro has a long ways to go before he catches Marshall VanWinkle's shelf full of Preservation Awards. I have a feeling that Marshall's record may never be broken.

On the positive side, Marshall's tin lizzie hasn't been in my driveway, but Pedro's car has.

Di and I want to thank the Tidewater Region for a well planned, well executed and a very fun Eastern Division Spring National Meet this past weekend! This was our first national meet that we were registered in and Di, the girls and I enjoyed it very much. We had a very enjoyable and fun four days at the meet.

The location of every part of the event was great and well laid out. The hard work of the Tidewater Region members in hosting this event is greatly appreciated by all.

Bruce, I enjoyed spending the day with you, Di and your family too. My chevy wagon got another DPC award which I'm sure your Model A received also. By the way, your pictures are up.

There's a lot of pictures coming up folks so check out the gallery occassionally.

Wayne

PS, Forgot to mention that our region's members received at least 9 awards that I'm aware of. I also saw some DPC cars that could have easily been competitive in the "general competition" classes with just a few small changes, like "radios, wheels, tires", or other easily changed items.

"I don't like the wheel/hub cap combination either, but there you are. Thanks for the picture of my wagon, David Divine. Soory I wasn't there to see you again.

Wayne,

Was glad that we were parked next to you on the show field. It was great to spend some good time with you and Mike without having to run off to a seminar or something. Yes, the 1931 Ford did receive its DPC certification.

Wayne, if it hadn't been for the hubcap wheel combination, you most likely would not have had that picture. I spotted the dogdish caps a long was off and was drawn to the car because they are rather unsual as is the dogdish caps on my Chevy II 100 series wagon.

Also, I'm not that divine yet, just Devine. wink.gif

You know, it bad when you put a car in a show, plan on taking a lot of pictures, and don't even take one of your own car to post on the forum. grin.gif

Bruce, that Ford in the background of the pic of Wayne's car is yours? Sorry I didn't get pic of it. I tend to ignore window cards. I walk the field and take of whatever catches my eye. To be honest, I didn't even take note that the wagon was Wayne's. When I looked at the card I read year and make only.

If you look at the pictures and find the first pic of the '47 Jeep, I took the rest of them up to the black Ford pick-up in the time it took my Dad's team to get thier judge chips and for him to walk over to the center asle way. (I left judge's admin when he got there.)

Hi David

Sorry that we missed you on the show field. I had heard you were going to be at the meet and kept an eye out for you.

Yes, that is our 1931 Ford Deluxe Tudor parked next to Wayne's delivery. We arrived at the show field at the same time. I see our youngest daughter Brittani is sitting in the passenger seat when you took the photo, so I am assuming it was in the afternoon that you came by.

Di and the girls slept in that morning and rode the shuttle from the hotel to the show field in the late morning. The shuttle between the hotel and show field was yet another nice convenience that Tidewater Region thought of to make an exceptional meet. I didn't have to wake them early or wait for them to take the car to the showfield.

A beautiful Virginia 1958 Impala Convertible. Also, in the background, you'll see Tommy Nolan readying his parking spot with his 1961 hipo Ford. Tommy told me it was a 401? horepower 390 engine. He said these Fords used to blow his doors all the time in the old days. Gosh Tommy, I should have kept that to myself.

I'm sorry I didn't get a better picture of your Ford, Tommy. I guess I was enjoying talking to you too much.

I stand corrected in post above. Here is a better picture of Tommy Ford. The car is really a lot redder than it looks here. The "beach" is about 1/2 mile further east Tommy.

Zizzy's black Corvette. The red interior has white stitching, really cool. Zizz's from Maine, up in the west part of the state where people are scarce.
