memphis321 Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I need to know if a front bra for an 89 Reatta will fit on a 91 Reatta.I am almost positive it will but I have to be sure as I cannot get a refundif it will not fit my 91. They want $100.00 plus shipping for it.Thanks. Dennis
Barney Eaton Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Don't tell the 1991 that it came from an older model and it will never know.(The mask fits ALL Reattas)Sales pitch...I sell both Covercraft and LeBra brands. The LeBra model that is made so the hood will open without removing part of the mask is the most expensive and I sell them NEW for $80 including shipping.
padgett Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Barney: I have the LeBra and it fits very well. My only issue was that with the bra in place part of the grille is blocked and my coolant temp went up 5-10 degrees (I normally run 179-181 above 50 mph) even after opening part of the license plate flap. Have been considering having a boat place open it up but wonder if it needs the center pieces for support.Note: do not tie the fenderwell strap to the plastic liner without bracing or it will pull the plastic liner into the tire.
Guest wwollet Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Barney:I had a bra for my S10 Tahoe and it was a red vehicle. The bra caused the following problem...... the paint under the bra didn't match the rest of the car because it was protected from sun and the rocks, dust, etc was "kicked" up over the roof and cause the paint to peel........will this happen with the Reatta bras too?Bill
Guest tomt Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 There is a new product out that I've been interested in trying on my Reatta. The product is called Clear Bra, and it is made by a customer of mine. I ran in to an installer in Salt Lake City. He is Sherman Abegg @ sherm@getclearbra.com. The product is a clear tape type of product. My boss has it on his car and has a lot of luck with it. You might contact Sherm for info. With this product, I would think that the front needs to be perfect before installation.
Guest Orono Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 I would highly recommend the clear film. You get all the benifits of a bra with out the scratching, color difference & hassel. There are a number of manufactures on the market now..venturesheild is one, 3M makes one too. Many of the new cars have the film to protect vulnerable areas. For example on a 2005 Lexus ES330 there is a strip on the "dog leg". This is the opening of the rear doors, just in front of the rear wheel.
Guest crtnrds Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 I also thought about getting a LeBra but it covers up the beautiful Reatta emblem.
Barney Eaton Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I said I sold the mask (bras) but I didn't say I recommended them. There are several problems. People get lazy and leave them on and .....(1) the paint fades on the rest of the car and not under the mask.(2) Dirty water get under the mask and the dirt acts like an abrasive and can wear the paint. The mask should be removed and cleaned reguarly...that seldom happens. (3) They are not that good looking. There are people on ebay selling the protective film but usually already cut specifically for newer cars. It is unlikely there is a precut kit for the Reatta. I have seen several cars (not Reattas) the the clear film and it is much better looking, supposidly can be removed without hurting the paint, and is expensive if you have it professionally installed.
Shelby Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I think that in a 5 year period, without proper care a bra will do more damage than it prevents.
