sledheader 48381 Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I reciently purchased a NOS coil for my 1947 56C, and having got a new[to me] ignition cable last winter I thought I was one step closer to making my Buick as original as possable, but I found out the other day that the cap that goes on the bottom of the coil is part of the ignition cable that comes from the ignition cyl., am wondering if anyone out there has one that they would part with, again all I need is the cap, but a complete cable assembly would work to, please email me and let me know. Thanks Don BCA#40498
Guest Howard Purvis Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Don, I don't have a '47 shop manual, but when I saw your post I looked in those I have for 1942 and 1946. I assume your distributor is mounted on the firewall, too. The manual reads as if the coil comes without the cap and that the cap is part of the cable assembly. The '46 shop manual shows a part number of 1115026 for the coil which is different from 1942 because the '46 condenser is included with the coil. My Master Parts book for these years shows part number 1915430 under Group No. 2.170. (One number may have superseded another). Group No. 2.189 shows a part number 1116357 for "Extension, switch and cable" which is specific for 1946 and '47 56C and 76C. If it will help, I would be glad to copy and send on all relevant excerpts from these sources.Howard
sledheader 48381 Posted May 5, 2006 Author Posted May 5, 2006 Howard; Thanks much, have been trying to find that info in my parts book but have not been able to find it. I have the cable less the cap I am assuming that the caps are all the same maybe the difference is the length of the cable. I would take anything I can get. Don
