Guest F14CRAZY Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 I've had a couple beatup Reatta remotes laying around. One came with my car and the other with Claret. The one from Claret seems to be dead without salvation, and I reprogrammed my car to the transmitter that works. I tried them before but I guess I was using a battery a notch too small. Now at the correct CR2025. I think I was trying a CD2013 or something.Yesterday I went ahead and removed my rear panels to access the factory remote module. I reseated the connections there and up at the top of the rear glass (the 9V thingy). No corrosion etc. So, I got it working, but the range is awful. Like you have to be within 5 feet of the rear antenna, and at the correct angle. I experimented with the good working keyless system of the Select 60, and it works from like 20 feet away. Nothing abnormal. Is range more controlled by the module or the transmitter? Mine's the one where the unlock button rubber is worn though and you need a pinky to work it most of the time. Note though, cuz it looks so bad, I went ahead and carefully Dremel-ed at it so the buttons are not recessed (you guys know what I mean). Would range be better like if i bought one in better shape like a Caddy remote? The buttons on those look much easier to operate. How about one from remotesunlimited.com?What do you guys think? Thank you. I've been living with this PITA since I got the car, with a broken driver's door keyhole
89REATTAJIM Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Have a friend with a '90 coupe. Gave him a remote, we programmed it & it works at a greater distance than on my '89. The 90 coupe has a different antenna set up. 89 is like 2 wires that parallel the top of the rear window. The 90 has the "9V thingy" hook up, but the antenna is a closed loop 10 inches or so in diameter. What does the 'vert have for an antenna?? Let us know if you increase the range.
