Rawja Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 Idle:Check you throttle position sensor readings vs. specs in the Factory Service Manual (available online at www.reatta.net )Rubbing sound:Probably a wheel bearing is going bad.
Don B. Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 Spray around the vacuum lines with carb cleaner. When the idle changes there is a leak. That can be a source of off normal idle.
Guest imported_barra Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 I have a higher idle on my 88 but it's generally steady in the 900-1100 rpm range. My mechanic believes that it is in the throttle position sensor. He says that it's not hard to replace when the engine is cold. I also let mine sit through the winter. It pulled to the left under hard braking. The "slides" on the brakes were "gummed up". The front brakes were also worn- original parts he thought - and he replaced them with a "packed unit". I don't remember hearing any kind of rubbing noises while it was moving, though. Hope this helps
