memphis321 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I have had this 91 Reatta for about 3 months and have just aboutgot most things straightened out on it. I am having a problem withlosing about 1/2 pint of tranny fluid a month. It doesn't leak adrop when I am parked but sometimes when I check it it will showjust a little low . Where is the fluid going? What do you guys think?Dennis
Reatta45 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I had the same problem around 6 years ago with my ?91? Turned out to be the transmission modulator, you can easily check this with a Q-tip? pull the vacuum line off the modulator and check inside the line? if there is ANY transmission fluid, you have a leak in the diaphragm. With older cars it was easier to find this problem? you would see the smoke in the exhaust, not with a catalytic converter, it burns it up so you will not see smoke until you are loosing a lot of fluid into the intake. memphis321 Posted May 3, 2006 Author Posted May 3, 2006 Thanks for the info I will check it tomorrow and let you knowif that solves the problem. Again thanks. Dennis
Guest Mike_s Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 If it's not the modulator take a look at the high pressure line going to the radiator, there's a section of rubber hose near the frame that can leak where the hose attaches to the metal line. It might just leak when the engine is running and putting the connection under pressure.
