Pete Phillips Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I am completing a feature article on the 1956 Buicks for the June issue of the Buick Bugle magazine. I need to know whether Buick offered a "power pack" option for the Specials in 1956, as they did in subsequent years (4-barrel carburetor instead of the standard 2-barrel, and perhaps dual exhausts)? I will try to attach a photo of the cover of the June issue, just to give you a glimpse of what is coming. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338Bugle Editor
Pete Phillips Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 Well, the file didn't attach. One more try. If it doesn't work this time, someone who knows how to do it, please email me, and I will send you the file to attach. I have so little patience with computer technology...@!!*@! It is a terrific cover photo.Petepphillips922@earthlink.net
Guest norb Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I dont remember any such option on the 56 specials but my memory is about gone anyway. Besides, that was in the middle of the last century.
R W Burgess Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Here's your second page Pete. I hope it's big enough. You made me work for these pictures. I'm not good at converting Adobe Products.Wayne

Guest imported_Thriller Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 When I contacted GM Canada Archives, they didn't have specific records for my car, but they did send me some interesting information, including production options - Dealer's Confidential Price List. I think it is safe to release 50 years after the fact Aside from what has already been mentioned, there are the various tire options, wheel trim discs, Latex Foam Rubber Topper Pad (front seat only), Shade-Lite Glass, Hydraulic Steering Gear, HD Springs & Shock Absorbers, power windows (except 4411), block heater, dual exhaust, Siz Way Electric-Horizontal, Vertical, & Tilt Type Seat Adjustor (exc. 4411), Instrument Panet [sic] Crash Pad, H.D. Frame Equipment (only w/ springs and shocks above), paint (2 types of 2 tone and tri tone), and trim combinations. This was dated Oct. 31, 1955.I'll scan it in, but it will take me a bit to get it online. The sales brochure I have lists A/C as well...thanks for reminding me to look at this stuff every now and again...it almost makes me want to work on this car...almost.
Guest imported_Thriller Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Here are two pages...not great quality...then again, the original I scanned wasn't the best...photocopy of a document typed 51 years ago....The first is option prices and the second is purchase price for Specials and a couple models of Century. Please note these are GM Canada sheets, so pricing in Canadian dollars (back when they were worth more).I'm having difficulty getting the right file to PhotoBucket...it wants to keep the first one I uploaded and found it was too small. I'll try again later. Anyway, here are the vehicle prices.
