Guest GMcars Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 There is a 1989 "Supercharged" Reatta I noticed on eBay. Item # 4633368728. It appears that someone has placed a 3800 SeriesII Supercharged engine directly into this Reatta! I'm new to this forum and have seen the extensive number of posts on the Supercharging topic and when I noticed this on eBay I thought some of you may be interested in seeing this particular vehicle. To me this seems to be an excellent forum with a dynamic group of people who I can already tell have an extensive knowledge base. I recently purchased a '90 Reatta Convertible to drive as a pleasure car in the summer months here in Michigan. I've admired the vehicle for years and always aspired to own one some day. I'll be sending my VIN and other info to Barney soon to add to the database. I'll be checking in regularly and I know I'll be needing advice periodically, so thanks in advance!
Guest F14CRAZY Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Nice find, and thanks for pointing it out. Its been done before by Ryan. It's not quite that easy because the Series II is considerably different than the stock LN3 3800. You could run the car with the donor's ECM/PCM but would lose all instrumentation and stuff. Other approach is to use the Reatta's ECM to run everything, with the Reatta sensors fitted on the Series II.That's the situation, in a nutshellSlightly odd to find a Buick with Chevrolet wheels, that have Cadillac emblems You have the "Twin Dual Cam"?
Guest GMcars Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I've read some of those adventures about what Ryan's done and so forth. All the eBay pictures really show is that the engine's in there. A closeup on their 29th picture the ECM says Vehicle Computer Communication Problem Detected. It appears as if the main gauge cluster works. It isn't the kind of project I'm looking to undertake but it's good to know who the folks are that have already been there -done that. I admire your ambition! (And on the other question F14, the Cutlass Conv has the DOHC 3.4)
manikmekanik Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Would you be willing to "drop by" and asses the supercharged Reatta, to enlighten us? Many here are curious as to the condition/operation of this car, as well the history/builder, if you can find out. IF the car is within your reach. It sounds very interesting.... and post a photo of your "new" Reatta, so we can see it.-don't forget to apply for BCA & Reatta division membership!I'll gladly act as your sponsor for BCA membership!
Guest maybe2fast Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 CRT: problem detectedmust be using the stock ECM and memcal
padgett Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Would be interesting to see if the speedo reads 255 mph at 15 and if the trip odo moves off zero. Also what the gauges display looks like.Too bad it is not in Florida, would be an interesting toy. (BTW premium is already over $3/gal here).

Guest F14CRAZY Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Bought some 92 octane stuff at like $3.11 or something like that? Do I care? No. I'm Supercharged
Guest inthespot Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 This week which is typical: Ford Van 64 gal of fuel, Mazda 12 gal of fuel, Plymouth van 14 gal of fuel. That is 90 gallons and most of that was around $2.65 a gallon and the Ford is on empty and I will put 30 to 32 gallons in it tomorrow morning and drive around 225 miles or so which will take a little over a third of that tank so I will have used about 105 gallons of fuel this week in my job. Now I am selfemployed so all that comes out of my profit. The additional cost of fuel is taking about $125 to $160 out of my pocket each week that did not happen when fuel was $1.50 or so a gallon. I have my own company selling supplies and have to deliver it all and for those that have to drive a lot in their jobs we are paying a high price for the oil company exectives to get rich and pay OPEC $70 plus a barrel for crude oil when we could have drilled for it here and built refineries years ago.Repulicans and Democratics alike are not doing me any favors nor anyone else in the country. But you know I'll bet that George W or Ted Kennedy dont have to worry about how much gas they used this week. Again, just my two cents worth.
Guest Reatta1 Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Right on, Inthespot. What pees me most is that the barrel price (futures) goes up and instantly they raise the per gallon at the pump price, which they aren't paying yet and won't for a while. So they get the obcene profit and we get shafted. Time to bring back the horse and buggy.
Guest Greg Ross Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Are you buying Exxon Mobil Stock, they just reported a 26 billion dollar profit and out of the other side of the Chairmans' mouth came the statement that Oil Prices did not rationally need to be at the levels they're at?????And what is Exxon doing with the surplus cash, not investing in new reserves or new capacity, No Sir, they're in a Stock Buyback mode.
Guest Reatta1 Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Hell, Greg, on my limited income after paying these gas prices, I couldn't even buy penny stocks let alone oil company stock. I'm not normaly one to advocate government intervention in pricing but I'll make an exception in the case of gas pricing. Far as I'm concerned the oil companies and OPEC are taking us to the cleaners. Maybe instead of worrying about their nuclear ambitions, Bush should just go blast the crap out of Iran over oil and take over the oil fields and production. That might just put BinLaden out of business at the same time.
jonlabree Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 No, We are in Iraq so that the oil Co's and Bush can get richer and we can get poorer.
Guest imported_dantm4 Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Funny how every thread seems to divert to oil prices these days. I'm not happy about oil companies either, but 9.1 million barrels MORE oil were used for the same month (I think March) since last year (if I recall correctly). If we're so upset why are we driving so much? Of course, I happily noticed that my two mutual funds have Exxon stock, but I also drive 600+ miles a week and think it's becoming economically impossible for me to remain at my current job much longer. Good thing my Corolla gets 37+ mpg, but it probably means the Reatta will be restricted to weekends..=( Just my .02-Dan
