Willhelm Reichert
They hold a lot more than that on turbododge. I found a transmission shop with a 70,000 lb. press. don't throw away the old one. Also found a great machinist in Ok. T2 Shadow that made the quaife obx spacers for reasonable price (turbododger). He might be up to the gear sets for the 284. 89TC-16V
so a 555 will be suitable. are the axles the same and i wonder about the linkages being close to similar

TwinCamFan
I am putting a OBX equipped 523 in mine, so I am planning on that being strong enough... I wanted to cryo everything but at $8/lb it wasn't happening. Yeah, I know there are $3/lb places out there, couldn't find any local to me.Sorry, axles are not even close to same. Going with a nice LeBarron set up I found. Thing is, ABS fronts are just plain hard to find-especially in equal length. Next problem is, the LeBaron tone wheels are much larger than 16V TC's so the sensor can not be backed off far enough to clear For me no problem because I have already converted to 11.25" brakes/spindles so it is just a matter of moving the little tab I mounted back .25" or so. Shift cables need to come from donor too, the 284 is just it's own animal... Cool part is, the Neon short shifter will fit nicely on the 568/523 cables Trans is all hung in my set up, just waiting on the cylinder head frm the shop with it's shiny new Inconel valves in it Four weeks longer than they said TC Nats in Reno are a no-go for me now because of it

Willhelm Reichert
I just sent a pm about a hybrid axles. Just a thought....Have you checked the linkage points and adjustments???? I don't know about that type but just got through installing 555 in Daytona. The cables have adjustments, some have bushings that go bad, and the cables stretch. Checking this out first would be a LOT easier.
