Kevin: I am not happy with you making the 51 to 54 STBs free to the public. I gave them to you privately as a swap fo rthe 1954 information you had. I think everyone knows that I have had sets of STB"s for sale in here for a couple of years. People who have purchased them from, have done the right thing and kept the information private. You have taken potenial money out of my pocket by doing this. Several us about seven years ago paid several hundred dollars to obtain a full set of them. There isn't much I can do, but I think the right thing to do is take them dowm from your site.

A MESSAGE TO ALL UNTIL KEVIN REMOVES THEM FROM HIS SITE, THERE WILL BE NO MORE STB'S OFFERED FOR SALE BY ME.

John,

I did not know that you offered these for sale. I just figured these were in the public domain and most everyone had a copy. I do belive they are are a valueable source of information and should be availiable to people who are looking for it. I figured that most of them were already available from the PackardLibrary site.

But if these STB's are a source of business for you then I will pull your set off the site.

I didn't mean to cause any waves. I will wait to locate a different set of orginals that I can scan, or wait till someone donates a set. I still believe this kind of information should be available for free. The people that really want to have a nice set of printed copies and will pay for them. That is the reason the Service Manual is broken into section and watermarked. I dont want people downloading and selling it for profit. It is a good resource for people that need to look something up real quick. But a printed bound version is always nicer to have in the garage when you need it. So people that use the online version will see the wealth of information contained and order a printed set from one of the many online vendors when they are ready.

I didn't mean to overstep any boundries here with you John.

I agree with you. I guess I didnt realize that John was selling these. If I knew that I would not have posted them. They have been removed.

The site was not meant to be just for 51-54 information. That just happens to be the only source of information I have in my archives at this time. I hope people will donate information as it moves along. I am hosting the site on my own dime and this is not a something I am looking to get money for in any way. I just wanted to try to consolidate as much Packard Info in one location as possible for people to get to. Also the way the site is desgined it allows it users to upload files and writes stories/articles. So I hope it will be a user added content that drives the site. I am not looking to replace any other site or forum on the web, but simply add to the choices available to people looking for information.

I support Kev on this issue, I really appreciate the effort of trying to help fellow Packard owners keep their cars alive by sharing information and not just hording the info to try to make a buck. I enjoy my Packard as well as my 62 Galaxie and belong to other forumns that really try to post as much information as can be obtained help the owners of these cars out. As for these SB's, if there is a viable issue of objection because of intent so be it and pull those specific SB's until a replacement is found. As for the disbanding of the site, I would hate to see that happen and if I can offer any information, manuals & literature that I currently have for scanning and posting you are more than welcome to it. Send me a PM and I will send them to you
