Foop Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I just bought a nearly perfect gray 1990 Reatta and have a questionabout the alarm system.I cant figure out how it works.I did manage toset it off at 3 AM the other night and could not figure out how toturn it off.The owners manual says nothing about it.Any help out there??????????Thanx Foop
Guest F14CRAZY Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Nice Reatta. Does it have an aftermarket alarm? I'm assuming it doesn't, but always a good thing to ask.Otherwise, Reattas came stock with a passive alarm system. If it goes off, put the key in the driver's door (can't remember if it works on the passenger side, but maybe) and turn it. Should turn off. The alarm will go off if you do something like lock the doors with either the power locks or remote and open a door from the inside (like locking someone in and them getting out).
Roadster90 Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Dynamite Reatta Foop ( I have one just like it)....welcome to the best auto forum on the net...you will like it here . F 14's solution should be right on.....Nic
Foop Posted April 14, 2006 Author Posted April 14, 2006 F14Thanx,that sounds like it should work but now I cant seem to set it off again to try.Any other ideas on how to set it off?????
Guest BUICKPOWER Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 IF YOU WANT IT TO GO OFF JUST PUT YOUR WINDOW DOWN GET OUT LOCK YOUR DOOR THEN REACH IN UNLOCK THE DOOR MANUALLY AND OPEN DOOR THIS SHOULD SET IT OFF BUT NOT AT 3AM !!
Guest F14CRAZY Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 My bad. If I understand it, you need to wait something like a minute for the alarm to actually arm (after locking the doors)
padgett Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 To set off, just lock the doors with the windows down and close it. Then reach inside & unlock & open door.To disarm unlock either door with the key.
