Power brake booster 56 special

Hello everyone. I have a question about the power brake unit on my

special. I suspect it is bad as I have to stand on the brakes to get

the car to stop. Question is: Does anyone know of a reputable rebuilder

for me to contact. or, is it something one might try to do themselves?

Oh, and is the booster on this year only common to 56 models?

Any input would be great.

Tom, The booster is only for the 56, no other year will fit. Try CARS or Kanter I think they both carry rebuilt units. There is also a guy in Florida named ED Strain that rebuids them and knows alot about them. Phone # 800-266-1623, hope this helps.

Tom, i got a kit from CARS and rebuilt my booster, it wasn't that difficult but I had to make a "spanner" wrench to get one nut off. still works 5 years later!
